The Science of Fun: How WonderWorks Branson Blends Education & Entertainment

WonderWorks Branson Bed of Nails - The Science of Fun

At WonderWorks, we’re passionate about making learning an exciting and engaging experience. By blending education with entertainment, we create an environment where curiosity thrives and where young learners are inspired to explore the world around them. Our educational exhibits are designed to reinforce classroom learning and provide students with hands-on experiences that they will remember for years to come. Discover the science of fun at WonderWorks and bring your students on a Branson field trip that combines the best of both worlds.

Interactive Exhibits That Teach:

Natural Disaster Center – Twenty-five feet of computers and monitors present dramatic footage of some of the world’s most famous natural disasters. These disasters are explained in basic scientific terms and students will have the opportunity to quiz themselves about what they’ve learned!

Anti-Gravity Chamber – Learn about light frequency in the Anti-Gravity Chamber. The water is traveling from the floor to the ceiling . . . or is it? At the touch of a special button that you control, water will appear to change direction! Look up! The change in frequency of the strobe lights is what causes the water to appear to change direction.

Bed of Nails – Is it possible not to be punctured while laying on a bed of over 5,000 real nails? The Bed of Nails is a great way to demonstrate to students the principle of pressure (“force-per unit area”) and for classroom discussions of Newton’s Laws of Motion.WonderWorks Branson Pulley Exhibit - The Science of Fun

Speed of Light – Have your students test their reflexes while competing for the highest score. The Speed of Light exhibit is great for classroom discussions about the relationship between human body parts, specifically hand-eye coordination.

Pulley Power – If simple machines are the unit of study, this exhibit is a terrific demonstration! Students will lift themselves up with the help of pulleys. Three stations with a different number of pulleys have been set up to demonstrate a “mechanical advantage” first-hand. At each station, participants can compare how much effort is needed to pull themselves up.

Extreme Weather – Feel a 5.3-magnitude earthquake, experience 74mph hurricane winds, and learn about the Saffir-Simpson and Richter scales in the Extreme Weather Zone.

With all these exhibits and many more, WonderWorks really is the perfect destination for families, school groups, and science fans of all kinds. Field trip organizers can even request a list of exhibit alignments with their grade’s MO education standards. In addition to our interactive exhibits, WonderWorks is passionate about providing fun, educational resources for teachers, students, and families that bring education to life. Make learning fun by incorporating Professor Wonder’s activity sheets into your student’s curriculum or print them out for some added amusement for even the littlest of learners. Whether you’re planning a field trip or nominating students for our annual WonderKids student achievement program, we’re here to support educators in bringing the wonder of WonderWorks into the classroom.
