The Science of Fun: How WonderWorks Destiny Blends Education and Entertainment

WonderWorks Syracuse Mascot - The Science of FunAt WonderWorks, we believe that learning should be an adventure. Our unique blend of education and entertainment, which we like to call “edutainment,” makes us a standout destination for families, educators, and curious minds of all ages in the CNY area. Through interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and engaging educational programs, WonderWorks transforms traditional learning into an unforgettable experience.

WonderWorks is designed to ignite curiosity and spark a love for learning. Our exhibits are not just visually stunning; they are also packed with scientific principles and educational content. Each attraction is carefully crafted to teach while entertaining:

Human Lightning Rod Tesla Coil – This exhibit assesses potential and kinetic energy, energy transfer, simple circuits, etc.

How Cold Is It? – Experience firsthand how freezing water feels at 28° F, the same temperature that 2,223 people in the RMS Titanic felt when it sank. This is a great exhibit to explain the concept of “hypothermia” and compare the freezing points of seawater vs fresh water.

Wonder Park – Use this virtual sports exhibit to introduce the relationships among gravity, speed and distance.

Canyon Climb Ropes Course – Test your balance and endurance as you climb the 70ft tall indoor ropes course. Climbers will conquer 81 different challenging obstacles in this one-of-a-kind adventure. (*Height/weight restrictions apply. Closed shoes required.)

Air Canon – This exhibit assesses the effects of gravity, force and motion, simple machines, energy transfer, problem solving, Newton’s Law, the muscular system, and more.

How High Can You Jump? – This exhibit assesses the effects of gravity, force and motion, and the muscular system.

WonderWorks Syracuse Space Zone - The Science of FunSpace Weight – This “scale” determines and compares weight on Mars, the Moon, and Earth. It teaches concepts like mass and density, the effects of gravity, central measures of tendency, measuring with non-standard units, etc.

Tic-Tac-Toe Computers – Play TIC-TAC-TOE the scientific way! Students will test their earth science knowledge by choosing between 5 categories such as: geosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and cryosphere.

Wonder Coasters – Discover the principles of motion and gravity as you take a ride on a virtual roller coaster. This exhibit combines thrills with lessons in physics and engineering.

With all these exhibits and many more, WonderWorks really is the perfect destination for families, school groups, and science fans of all kinds. Field trip organizers can even request a list of exhibit alignments with their grade’s NYS education standards, and families can purchase a scavenger hunt case book at the front desk for some added amusement during their visit. Which exhibit are you visiting first?
